Christmas Cookies

December 15th: Christmas Cookies – A staple for the festive season, so we want to share our favorite one!

For the advent time you really need cookies and one of my favorites are vanilla crescents. So, without further ado I want to a share a great recipe with you.

Ingredients:
Dough:

  • 280g fine cake flour
  • 200g butter (at room temperature)
  • 100g shredded walnuts
  • 80g powdered sugar
  • 1 bag of vanilla sugar

    For sprinkling the baked cresents:
  • 160g powdered sugar
  • 1 bag of vanilla sugar

Preparation:

First, get the butter out of the fridge so it can get a little bit warmer and softer. After that measure all ingredients for the dough and pour them into a bowl. Afterwards, knead it to a smooth dough, wrap it up in clear film and let it rest in the fridge for 2 hours.

In the meantime, preheat the oven to 170°C. When the 2 hours of letting the dough chill are over take the dough out of the fridge. Now, divide the dough in four equal parts before rolling those parts into rolls with a diameter of approximately 1.5 cm. Subsequently, cut the rolls into smaller pieces, depending on how big the single crescents should be. In the pictures you can see some of those pieces, so you get an idea of how they could look. To finish their shape before they come into the oven, roll the small pieces before forming the finals crescent shapes.

Put a sheet of backing parchment on a baking tray then place the crescents on it and put them into the oven for around 15 minutes. Check them after 10 minutes and make sure they don’t get too dark or even burn. Once they look done take them out of the oven and let them cool for a minute.

During this minute you can blend the powdered sugar and the vanilla sugar and sprinkle it over your still hot vanilla crescents or carefully toss them in the sugar mixture.

And then there is only one thing left to do: Enjoy!
