Finally summer is here! It’s getting warm and sunny which means it’s finally time to go out again. If you’re not yet sure how to make the most of the nice weather, here are our tips for the 5 best summer activities in Vienna.
Picknick
A classic when the weather is nice, but it’s still such a fun, inexpensive activity you can do with your friends. Get some food at a supermarket before, grab your picknick blanket and look for the perfect spot.

Donauinsel
If you want to feel like you’re on vacation for a day, plan a trip to Donauinsel. No matter whether you actually go for a swim or not, there is plenty to do. You can bike around the island, play frisbee or simply chill in the sun!
If you want to round off your day trip, get some nice food at one of the restaurants there. Our favourite is the Greek restaurant close to the U1 station Donauinsel. It’s just the perfect ending for your mini vacation right in the city center.
Stadtwanderwege
One of the secrets in Vienna that very few locals know about is the Stadtwanderwege. They are basically easy hiking trails you can easily reach by public transport right in Vienna.
While they might not be too exciting to you if you are used to proper mountain climbing, they are definitely fun if you’re looking for a slightly challenging walk in Vienna. And some of them simply give you a really amazing view of the city!
Botanical garden
Another cool activity to do in the summer is to visit the Botanical Garden in Vienna. It’s kind of hidden and not really well know, but it’s definitely worth a visit!
It’s located right next to Belvedere park and no matter whether you‘re actually into biology or are just in the mood for a beautiful mood, this definitely makes for a fun trip.
Rooftop cocktail
Another must do summer activity is to sip a cocktail on one of the many rooftop bars in Vienna. It’s just the perfect mixture of good food and drinks, and a summery, relaxing atmosphere.
